The United Nations’ call to “leave no one behind” has become a core guiding principle for the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals. Meeting this promise requires that inclusion be at the heart of digital economy policies. Such an approach compels policymakers to consider how all demographic groups and economic actors, including excluded and vulnerable groups, can benefit from technology and innovation.

Recognising this, the Indonesia G20 Presidency commissioned the development of a Compendium that demonstrate policies which have successfully enhanced meaningful participation in the digital economy among vulnerable groups including women, children, rural communities, elder generations, persons living with disabilities and micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) in the G20 member states. The Compendium was developed by the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP) in collaboration with the Griffith Asia Institute.
