Global Education Summit: Financing GPE 2021-2025 | Global Partnership for Education
The Global Education Summit: Financing GPE 2021-2025 will take place on July 28 and 29, 2021. The summit will use a hybrid format, with participants attending live sessions on our virtual platform and a small in-person event in London, if travel restrictions allow.
UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta will co-host the summit.
As a partnership and a fund, GPE brings together the global community every number of years to take stock of progress and raise vital funds for education. GPE is both the largest global fund solely dedicated to education and a unique, multi-stakeholder partnership. By mobilizing billions of dollars and convening hundreds of partners, GPE helps lower-income countries accelerate change so that every girl and boy can get the quality education they need to unlock their full potential and contribute to building a better world.
The 2021 Global Education Summit is being co-hosted by the President of Kenya, Uhuru Kenyatta, and the UK Prime Minister, Boris Johnson. The summit will be a platform for partners to chart a way forward to transform education systems in partner countries, through exchanging best practices, examining the latest evidence, hearing from experts and young people from around the world, as well as well as learning from what works in other sectors.
A central feature of the summit will be the ambitious pledges from donors to help GPE reach its target of at least $5 billion over 5 years, along with commitments from GPE partner countries on domestic financing for education. This is critical financing to help countries
