Amidst the pollution that constantly spews black from buses and the persistent dust that one can taste when riding in the back of a  tempo, lies in an incredible sweetness something like the juice from a fresh  mango or the  delight that one gets from eating a really good piece of chocolate or being in the arms of your best friend or lover.

We need to ensure a fair representation of persons living with disabilities in the Constituent Assembly.The universal declaration of human rights has secured the right to take part in the government directly or through their representative as one of the important human rights of each human being. National Federation of the Disabled-- Nepal, NFDN is strongly campaigning for this to happen.

A right step towards inclusive health

Recently the Ministry of Health and Population has issued a new directive to offer financial assistance to poor people with chronic diseases (cardiovascular, kidney diseases, Parkinson’s disease, Alzhaimer, spinal and head injury). Through this directive, the Government will provide support till 100.000 NRS for patient with one of the above mentioned conditions. The initiative has the potential to be a steppingstone towards a welfare state that can take care of the health of the most disadvantaged citizens.

There are many different causes that might explain the failure of the Government, civil society and donors’ community to achieve better levels of retention. The bottom line is that there is no short cut towards ensuring quality education. Quality education matters quite a lot together to a stronger social security system and a better school governance oversight.

Together with my wife Kalpana, I decided to or (at least I am trying to) dedicate my life to the cause of volunteerism and service. Wait a minute: here I am not claiming to be a CNN Hero, nothing like that. I simply want to work on social sector and I want to do it in a bit different way, not building schools or health centers or promoting children sponsorship ( I have enough of the latter) but rather trying to persuade people to help each others. Sometimes i am so into my work that i forget to volunteer myself. My friend Indira offered me the opportunity to give something back.
