Renewables continue to increase their cost competitiveness versus coal, with 27% of the global coal fleet unprofitable today. Do Not Revive Coal is the third annual report in Carbon Tracker’s Powering Down Coal series. The report finds around 70% of the global fleet relies to some degree on policy support and would likely be unprofitable in the absence of market distortions.

The new legislation will make human rights a much stronger priority for many corporations operating in Europe and around the world, making human rights due diligence mandatory, implementing in this way one of the key aspects of the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights. Now it is up to the European Commission to come up with the final proposed legislation.
