The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme turns 50 this year! To mark our anniversary, we share the reflections of former leading executives and deputies of UNV. First up: First up: Mr Peter Molt , the first Deputy Executive Coordinator of UNV, 1970-1975.

"In an increasingly digital world, legislatures and governments across the globe are grappling with the challenge of how to effectively tackle mis/disinformation, hate speech and online harms. A barrage of new laws, some of which go against constitutional provisions (France) and even international human rights law, have become increasingly widespread".

After their meeting in London from May 3 to 5, foreign and development ministers from G7 countries issued a communiqué, in which support to girls’ education features prominently as a key action to promote gender equality and poverty reduction, and to ensure a sustainable recovery from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The UNFF was an opportunity to highlight the awareness linked to the COVID-19 pandemic: the health of humans and the health of ecosystems are intimately linked and cannot be understood independently of each other.
