A few years ago my friend Markt Takefman was a VSO volunteer in a city in China.  While there he helped a young girl who was cross-eyed to obtain an operation to fix her vision.  For some reason this story has stayed with me.

Next Generation Nepal has recently released its long-awaited report, The Paradox of Orphanage Volunteering: Combating child trafficking through ethical voluntourism. The report was launched on 11th December 2014 at a Conference on Orphanage Volunteering run by UNICEF Nepal and Next Generation Nepal.

Let uphold the freedom of religion allowing Nepali citizens to join new churches for example but let’s make sure that these new groups, while welcome, stand by a “common sense” based approach to accommodate, respect and interact with local traditions and traditional faiths.

I am pretty sure that a good number of educated youth know where London and Paris are but it is undeniable the existence of generally poor track records among Nepali youth when we talk about geography. Let’s introduce a new subject in the national curriculum: World Education.

Guilty of Torture

The recently released US Senate Intelligence Report on Torture should surprise no one.  There is so much hate, discrimination, prejudice and murdering of so called "others", just because they don't believe what we believe.  The US should take no pride in how we've spread torture techniques throughout the world.  In a CNN piece on World reaction to the Report we find
