Too much focus has been given on “doing stuff” rather than advocating for systemic change through advocacy. Neglecting such important area is detrimental to the entire goals of development cooperation. How to persuade donors to invest more in the powerful but “hidden” tools of advocacy? Unfortunately the focus is always focused on shortermism rather than long term.

Campaigning done in the traditional way is not much of use and will not bring any meaningful change. Yet the potential of campaigning is irreplaceable if we want to change long rooted patterns. A new strategic approach to campaigning accompanied by a new working style in terms of implementation can change for the better living conditions of millions of children in the country.

Common advocacy agendas, peer sharing and division of labor do not automatically lead to joint cooperation at the implementation level but are definitely a prerequisite for stronger cooperation among actors all united against the same enemies: poverty, inequalities and injustices.
