This piece, originally published on Perspectives of the Himalayan Times on the 18th of Feb, tells the story of simple but effective partnerships between British Council and a group of persons with disabilities, a collaboration driven by a commitment towards social inclusion and a very big example that partnerships and collaborations are not just about money.

Our vision should be a rights-based inclusive society for children with disability. We need to eliminate preventable causes of childhood impairment and ensure that children with disability have access to high quality health, rehabilitation, education, and social inclusion programmes to enable their equal and valued participation in society.  

On the 8th of February, the first Board met and focused on the ongoing humanitarian crises and implementation of new UNICEF Strategic Plan that according to new UNICEF Executive Director focuses on "The Plan sets out an ambitious agenda for children and young people — a results-driven roadmap for the next four years and as the world sets its sights on 2030"

This is the major summit related to town and urban development. It is an informal mechanism convened by UN-Habitat and this edition had as main theme "Cities 2030, Cities for all: Implementing the New Urban Agenda" that is central in the implementation of the New Urban Agenda that was approved in the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development – Habitat III in Quito.
