Call for applications for a social science and humanitarian Fellowship

The Social Science in Humanitarian Action Platform (SSHAP) is launching Phase 3 of its Fellowship Programme to begin in May 2022. Funded by the UK Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office and the Wellcome Trust, SSHAP is looking for future leaders in social science to be able apply their knowledge to humanitarian emergencies in a locally relevant way.

Democracies Invest More in Healthcare than Dictatorships

Democracies spend more money on health than dictatorships, finds a new study in ifo Schnelldienst. “Comparing countries at the same level of economic development, democratically governed ones spend about 20 to 30 percent more on public healthcare. In contrast, there are no differences between democracies and dictatorships in private health spending,” says ifo researcher Florian Dorn.
