NESCO Bangkok Office invites young people aged 18-25 to an online consultation on UNESCO’s global, ethical framework for AI. The half-day online consultation will take place on 8 August 2020, with discussions held in English and Thai-language sessions. Interested candidates should register by filling in the Google form no later than 26 July 2020.

The Asia-Pacific region is home to over 700 million young people. Through entrepreneurship, many are boosting local development and accelerating sustainable growth. However, in a survey carried out by Transparency International in four countries in the region, 30 percent of young people said they had experienced corruption within the previous 12 months.

I met Akheel a few years ago when he was working on starting an adaptive sports program at San Diego State University.  He is a bright shining light in the world of providing more opportunities for persons with disabilities to play sports.  You'll find this interview very engaging as we talk about Akheel's childhood, his being a Paralympian in Rio and his starting of the SDSU program, one of the few in the US.  We also talk about racism and what we have to do in moving forward.

Ensuring that LGBTI people – i.e. lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender and intersex individuals – can live as who they are without being discriminated against or attacked is a concern worldwide. Discrimination against LGBTI people remains pervasive, while its cost is massive. It lowers investment in human capital due to bullying at school.
