MANILA, PHILIPPINES (20 January 2021) — Countries in Southeast Asia should consider developing industry transformation maps in key sectors to enable the transition to the fourth industrial revolution (4IR) with adequate investment in skills development for new and repositioned jobs, according to a new study by the Asian Development Bank (ADB).

The Global Climate Risk Index shows how badly countries are affected by extreme weather such as floods, storms, heat waves, etc. The most recent available data for 2019 and from 2000 to 2019 were taken into account. Mozambique, Zimbabwe and the Bahamas were hardest hit by extreme weather events in 2019. Between 2000 and 2019, Puerto Rico, Myanmar and Haiti were the hardest hit countries.
