This was the theme of 2017 ""In conflicts and disasters, protect children from child labour" “Children in areas affected by conflict and disasters are among the most vulnerable. No child must be left behind.” says ILO Director-General Guy Ryder in his statement for World Day Against Child Labour.

The 2017 Global Peace Index finds that the world became more peaceful in the last year, however, over the last decade it has become significantly less peaceful.Iceland is joined at the top of the index by New Zealand, Portugal, Austria, and Denmark, all of which were ranked highly in the 2016 Global Peace Index.

On 19 May, the Council adopted a new European consensus on development. This joint statement by the three institutions (Parliament, Council and Commission) sets out a new framework for development cooperation for the EU and its member states. The document was validated by the EU Parliament on June 1st.
