The Global Gender Gap Report 2017 benchmarks 144 countries on their progress towards gender parity across four thematic dimensions: Economic Participation and Opportunity, Educational Attainment, Health and Survival, and Political Empowerment. Unfortunately there is still a long way for full women empowerment. Rwanda, Nicaragua and Philippines are doing extremely well.

Sport for Peace and Development has a huge potential and many initiatives have been organized worldwide. Yet there are challenges ahead including the recent closing of a UN unit focused on promotion of sport for peace and development. At international level, we need new champions to promote the sector and help it reaching a new dimension while in Nepal there is a huge space for more coordination.
