4.30 -5.30 pm 28th Oct (Notice: this event might not be open to all the public)
India has a unique opportunity to resolve a dilemma facing many nations: Can the country grow its economy in a safe, sustainable way without the deadly air pollution, climate shocks and depletion of natural resources that have plagued other countries? And can India develop cleanly while advancing shared prosperity? This will require raising economic productivity, generating more employment, and accelerating female participation in the labor force – in a sustainable manner.
EDF is a leading global nonprofit that has worked with partners to forge pragmatic solutions to the most serious environmental problems. EDF believes that there is an opportunity to carve out a uniquely Indian pathway to shared, healthy, low-carbon prosperity and is establishing an independent entity to broaden and deepen partnerships in India. This session will use illustrations from EDF’s Indian and global portfolio to bring to life this vision.
EDF has partnered with AVPN Climate Action Platform to bring about this session. The Climate Action Platform is the dedicated arm of AVPN that looks to promote Asian thought leadership and foster stakeholder collaboration to scale impact and move capital towards climate action across Asia Pacific. India is also one of AVPN’s primary markets with a large portion of our member base actively engaging in climate issues there. EDF has tapped into AVPN’s network of members and partners in India to foster collaboration between those active in the field of climate action, and to develop solutions and a pathway for sustainable development in India.
