NEW YORK – Over 30 entrepreneurs are coming together at the Clinton Global Initiative (CGI) 2024 Annual Meeting to identify ways their organizations can grow and be more effective in addressing our greatest global challenges.

These leaders – part of a program called the CGI Greenhouse – run mission-driven startups, companies, and other enterprises that are working to promote climate resilience, women and girls’ equality, economic inclusion, humanitarian response, and health equity around the world.

“This year’s CGI Greenhouse showcases companies and organizations that have demonstrated success and validated their impact while working to address our greatest global challenges,” said Greg Milne, the CEO of the Clinton Global Initiative. “This year’s theme is ‘What’s Working,’ and the Greenhouse entrepreneurs who will be at CGI next week have forged solutions that have the potential to dramatically improve society if connected with the right support.”

CGI Greenhouse serves as a banner of recognition for these enterprises – and CGI has created customized opportunities for them to meaningfully engage throughout the meeting. There are three distinct ‘Greenhouse Spotlight Sessions’ in this year’s CGI program, which are designed to profile impact entrepreneurs and highlight how investment in social entrepreneurship can accelerate positive societal change.

Tatu Gatere, co-founder and CEO of Kenyan social enterprise Buildher reflected on the opportunity CGI Greenhouse offers impact entrepreneurs: “Buildher has been dedicated to laying a strong foundation for our social impact initiatives, and we are excited to have our efforts recognized by CGI Greenhouse. We look forward to collaborating with the CGI community of changemakers next week and in the years ahead as we continue to strengthen our impact and drive meaningful results.”

This year’s CGI Greenhouse is comprised of enterprises spanning the globe and our most critical issues: Aid for Rural Education Access Initiative (AREAi), based in Nigeria;  Aquagrain Ltd, based in the United Kingdom and operating in the United Arab Emirates; Aunt Flow, based in the United States; Biobot Analytics, based in the United States; BoxPower, based in the United States; Buildher based in Kenya; Coral Vita, based in the Bahamas;  Courageous Land, based in Brazil; Diaspora Spice Co., based between India and the United States; EcoBana Limited, based in Kenya; Ecocrumb, based in the United States;  Eden + Elie, based in Singapore; Envision, based in the Netherlands; Ignitia, based in Ghana and Sweden; InnAccel Technologies, based in India; Koolboks, based in France, Kenya, Nigeria, and Uganda;  Kosmotive, based in Rwanda; Mae Health, Inc (Mae), based in the United States;  MyStream, based in the United States; Ocean Purpose Project, based in Singapore; PanaSea Global, based in Panama;  Partners in Equity | PIE, based in the United States;  Planette AI, based in Canada; Porta, based in Spain; RxAll, Inc., based in Nigeria; ThermoShade, based in the United States;  WAVE (West Africa Vocational Education), based in Nigeria; Wellahealth, based in Nigeria.

Examples of solutions pioneered by these enterprises include growing resilient coral up to 50 times faster than any alternatives to restore dying reefs, promoting economic parity for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color communities through commercial property ownership, innovative microgrid solutions that enhance power availability, resilience, and sustainability, especially in rural and remote areas and during crises, platforms that are transforming healthcare delivery and addressing the environmental and social determinants of health, and more.

“We are thrilled to have a diverse group of organizations joining us as part of this year’s Greenhouse cohort,” said Maeve Curtin, senior community manager at CGI. “The organizations comprising this year’s cohort span countries, continents, business models, and focus areas, but are united in their desire to foster entrepreneurial solutions to some of the most pressing global challenges.”

Now in its third year, CGI Greenhouse was originally introduced during the CGI 2022 Annual Meeting to accelerate partnerships for mission-driven entrepreneurs with strategic, intersectional approaches to addressing global challenges. For the past two years, Greenhouse entrepreneurs pitched their ideas to investors in specific sessions at the Annual Meeting, with the aim of forming partnerships with Fortune 500 companies, large private and corporate foundations, investors, and funders. This year, CGI Greenhouse is back with an updated format where opportunities throughout the Annual Meeting have been customized to meet the scaling needs of these enterprises and profile them in unique ways.
