On 13 June 2025, from 8:30 to 10:00 a.m. (Chile), the Ministry of Education of Chile will officially launch the Guiding Framework for Teachers' Digital Competencies, with support from UNESCO. The event will take place in person at the Metropolitan University of Educational Sciences, with the option to join online. It will feature participation from MINEDUC authorities, UNESCO representatives, partner organisations, and Huawei Technologies.
In an educational landscape that demands new skills in response to the rise of artificial intelligence and increasing digitalisation, the Guiding Framework for Teachers' Digital Competencies offers a clear roadmap for educators to integrate digital technologies into their teaching practices in an ethical, critical, and meaningful way. Aligned with the Framework for Good Teaching and international standards such as DigCompEdu, this tool becomes a key reference point for both initial teacher training and ongoing professional development in Chile.
The event aims not only to present the content of the new framework, but also to foster reflection and dialogue around its implementation in classrooms. Through presentations and a discussion panel, concrete experiences will be shared by teachers, school leaders, and academics who have already begun this journey. Additionally, collaborative initiatives that have promoted the development of digital competencies as a driver of educational transformation will be highlighted.
This launch marks a decisive step towards a more inclusive, innovative education system that is prepared to face the challenges of the 21st century. The Ministry of Education invites the entire educational community to take part in this event, which signals the beginning of a new chapter in teacher professionalisation and the building of a critical, participatory digital citizenship.
