The CDP forests questionnaire tracks company performance on eliminating deforestation from agricultural and forestry supply chains. In 2023, a record-breaking 1,152 companies disclosed to the questionnaire. This report examines indicators of progress towards deforestation- and conversion-free supply chains that were developed in partnership with the Accountability Framework initiative.

2023 was the first year companies disclosed their methods and progress towards deforestation- and conversion-free supply chains in a standardized format through CDP. The report found that the “figures indicate that many companies are working to meet these new disclosure expectations while others are not yet able or willing to provide this information.”

Key findings

  • 881 companies disclosed on at least one commodity supply chain, for a total of 1,498 commodity-specific disclosures across seven high-risk commodities.
  • 445 disclosed on deforestation- and conversion-free progress, although only 186 provided comprehensive and high-quality information.
  • 64 reported achieving at least one 100% deforestation- and conversion-free commodity supply chain.
