In Uganda, violence against the press is on the rise: at least five journalists assaulted since the start of the electoral period

Since September 2025, at least five media professionals have been assaulted by law enforcement officers or political activists. As the general elections scheduled for 15 January approach, Reporters Without Borders (RSF) condemns these acts of violence and urges the authorities not to restrict internet access and to guarantee the free exercise of journalism before, during and after the elections.
