Nairobi, Kenya, 6 June, 2024 – South Sudan is facing a confluence of humanitarian crises that are pushing the country to the brink of starvation. Conflict in neighboring Sudan has caused over 692,000 people to flee into the country, hyperinflation is crippling the economy, climate change impacts continue to wreak havoc and all the while, the humanitarian Aid fund is only at 16%.

112th Session of the International Labour Conference

Government, employer and worker delegates from the ILO's 187 Member States will address a wide range of issues, including the protection of workers against the effects of climate change and biological hazards, the care economy and fundamental principles and rights at work. The Conference will also elect members of the ILO Governing Body for the 2024-27 term of office.

UN Report Calls for Holistic, Adaptable Policy Approaches to Achieve SDGs

The joint opening plenary of the Subsidiary Body for Scientific and Technological Advice (SBSTA) and Subsidiary Body for Implementation (SBI) had to be suspended twice, but overall the launch of the Bonn Climate Change Conference was fairly smooth. Parties adopted the provisional agendas and launched negotiations, including on the Global Goal on Adaptation (GGA).
