The Indigenous World 2025 is launching on 25 April 2025!

The Global Citizens’ Assembly for People and Planet, is being organised by Iswe Foundation and partners, with the guidance of the Global Citizens’ Assembly Network. The aim of the Assembly, which is being backed by the Government of Brazil, is to shape COP30 and lay the foundations for a new, game-changing institution.

Two very different national-level assemblies started their work in the last few days. The Nationaal Burgerberaad Klimaat, commissioned by the Dutch government, is the largest climate assembly to date. The Norwegian Framtidspanelet is the latest in the emerging wave of assemblies commissioned by civil society organisations.

This brief aims to spark conversation and collaboration across climate and VAWG actors to end violence against women and girls as a foundational – and urgent – part of the climate action agenda. Without urgent action, climate change could be linked to one in every ten cases of intimate partner violence by the end of the century.
