New York, NY - October 4, 2022 — The Ford Foundation today announced an $80 million program to build the resilience of civil society organizations in the Global South. Developed with partners in eight regions in Asia, Africa, and Latin America, Weaving Resilience will strengthen and connect civil society organizations and movements on the frontlines of the fight for social justice.

The People’s Charter for an Eco-Social World comes from the People’s Global Summit, ‘Co-Building a New Eco-Social World: Leaving No One Behind’, held online on 29 June – 2 July 2022. It is a living document and reference point that will grow as the world’s populations share their solutions to our joint challenges, so all people can live with confidence, security, and peace in a sustainable world.

Today, International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, the World Coalition Against the Death Penalty, through the testimony of representatives of abolitionist member and partner organizations, wishes to raise awareness of the links between the death penalty and violence against women and gender minorities and call out the unjust and inhumane nature of the death penalty.
