NEW YORK, June 1 - WWF welcomes the launch today of the Ocean Day Plastic Pollution Declaration, now endorsed by 74 countries, which calls for negotiations to commence on a new legally binding agreement to combat plastic pollution.

This 28 July, we bring you the sustainability event of the year — the Grand Finale of The Liveability Challenge 2021 — where six finalist teams will pitch their cutting-edge innovations for our two tracks: decarbonisation and re-imagining resources.

At this live online event, changemakers from around the world will discuss the importance and role of young people in tackling climate change, the role of arts, culture, education, science and English in climate change solutions, and how we can influence policymakers in the lead up to COP26, the global United Nations summit about climate change that will take place in November.

The International Federation of Social Workers, IFSW, issued a new policy paper on the SDGs. "Priska Fleischlin, IFSW UN Global Commissioner, said: ”I am pleased that there is now a policy emphasising the significance of our profession in contributing to the fulfilment of the SDGs. It clearly highlights the support of IFSW to join the global call for transformational change”.
