The Transforming Education Pre‐Summit will be organized in Paris on 28‐30 June 2022. A Global Engagement Day on 28 June will include technical meetings on Thematic Action Tracks and engagements with key stakeholders. The High‐level segment consisting of Ministerial and Stakeholder engagement will take place from 29‐30 June 2022.

Under the theme of ‘Taking Parliament to the People’, International IDEA and Bhutan’s Parliamentary Secretariat jointly hosted a three-day workshop for members and staff of the country’s parliament. Held from 20-22 May 2022, the workshop was designed to increase the use of public hearings in Bhutan’s parliamentary process.

Fit for 55 package: Council reaches general approaches relating to emissions reductions and their social impacts

The EU Council today adopted its negotiating positions (general approaches) on important legislative proposals in the ‘Fit for 55’ package. Presented by the European Commission on 14 July 2021, the package will enable the European Union to reduce its net greenhouse gas emissions by at least 55% by 2030 compared to 1990 levels and to achieve climate neutrality in 2050.
