Suzanne Jabbour, Chairperson of the Subcommittee on Prevention of Torture, said after being severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Subcommittee was able to resume a full programme of its visiting activities. It conducted high-level talks in Brazil, and visits to Argentina, Tunisia, Lebanon, Türkiye, Ecuador, Australia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Three decades have passed since it was proclaimed in 1993, in which we have seen substantial progress towards achieving a free press and freedom of expression around the world.
