Disinformation poses a significant threat to society, institutions, and individuals, and the awareness of its prevalence is rapidly increasing.
However, there is not yet widespread engagement in addressing this issue in the venture capital (VC) and tech arena. Potential factors hindering the entry of innovative solutions into the disinformation mitigation space could include market failures, political or moral barriers, the multidisciplinary complexity of the problem, and the ability to reliable measure the phenomena – all leading to a lack of VC interest despite the huge unmet need.
This panel, moderated by MCTD Affiliate and Technology and Communications veteran David Gordon, features prominent commercial figures in the field of disinformation mitigation, including fact-checking and network analysis players who have recently surfaced intriguing case studies. The panel will also feature a distinguished analyst of market research firm Gartner, who has studied the emergence of key technological domains over the years. The discussion aims to provide insights into existing challenges and explore ways to overcome barriers and foster the development of novel solutions.
