Join us for a discussion on how the SDGs can be used to navigate challenging times and ensure no one is left behind, drawing on our 2022 report "Building Forward Together - Towards an inclusive and resilient Asia and the Pacific”, which considers pandemic impacts on achieving the SDGs in the region.

Description

Efforts to contain the pandemic have exposed—and magnified—deeply rooted vulnerabilities and inequalities in the region. There are signs of a ‘K-shaped’ recovery marked by increasing divergence in economic and social outcomes within and between countries. When environmental degradation, increasing natural hazards and accelerating climate change are added to the mix, the risks to developing countries and poor and vulnerable populations are even greater. The Russian invasion of Ukraine has further disrupted supply chains and raised food and fuel prices.

These compounded crises of health, climate change, energy and security pose new challenges to our efforts to achieve the SDGs but may also create new opportunities to accelerate much needed change.
