A BILLION BRAINS Smarter Children, Healthier Economies is the third High Level Meeting on South-South Cooperation for Child Rights in Asia and the Pacific.Itwill be held in Kuala Lumpur on 7 and 8 November 2016, hosted by the Government of Malaysia.
The Asia Pacific region is home to some 3.8 billion people – about 52 per cent of the global population. More than 1 billion of these people are under 18 years old and 320 million are under 5 years old. These are nearly half the world’s children – theirhealth, education and welfare will be significant to the future.
The High-Level Meetings for Cooperation on Child Rights are the premiere events in the region to promote and further strengthen South-South Cooperation and triangular cooperation for child rights. The conference has strategic importance for the region as a whole, particularly at this juncture, as we create a roadmap for achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals
The meeting, A Billion Brains: Smarter Children, Healthier Economies, will focus on three key themes: social protection, universal healthcare and ending violence against children. Thematic papers covering these issues, as well as the South-South Cooperation progress report, are now available to download below (PDF):
