This year's event will move the conversation forward from 2017's theme by focusing specifically on young people's role in social activism, and how they are making an impact through engagement, citizenship and leadership.
Beyond Sport United, supported by the major U.S. leagues - MLB, MLS, NBA, NFL, NHL, and the WNBA - will draw together global influencers and innovators across sport, business, development, and government to look through a youth-engagement lens:
- Firstly, we will explore how sport can support young people making an impact through engagement, citizenship and leadership approaches.
- Secondly, we will look at how the sport industry - teams, leagues and brands – should be engaging with this new generation: how are we speaking to youth, making our work more purposeful, ensuring we are relevant and meaningful across experiential, content, and product offerings.
The 2-day interactive event will offer delegates the opportunity to take part in best practice on the ground at Community in Action, be inspired at the Beyond Sport Global Awards, and take part in workshops, break-out sessions, and cutting-edge panel discussions at Beyond Sport United.
The Beyond Sport United conference will be taking place at NYU's Eisner & Lubin Auditorium.
In its tenth year, the Beyond Sport Global Awards, taking place at the stunning One World Observatory, will celebrate, support, raise awareness and provide funding for ways sport is being used to help make the Global Goals for Sustainable Development a reality.
This year's categories will align with the UNSDGs, ranging from the Sport for Quality Education and Employment Award, to the Sport for Equality Award, to the Sport Climate Action Award.
Thanks to the support of partners, the Beyond Sport Global Awards will facilitate funding of over $300,000 from the Beyond Sport Foundation.
