The ninth Václav Havel Human Rights Prize – which honours outstanding civil society action in defence of human rights – has been awarded to Belarusian human rights activist Maria Kalesnikava.The award is issue by the Council of Europe that should not be confused with the European Union.

Global Partnership for Education approves additional $17 million for civil society advocacy

On September 2, the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) approved an additional US$17.3 million for Education Out Loud to support national civil society coalitions’ education advocacy and social accountability work. With an initial allocation of US$55.5 million, this new funding brings the total available funds for Education Out Loud to US$72.8 million.
